Driving Lessons After Illness or Injury
After a serious illness or Injury it may be daunting to return to driving. You may have been a confident driver before but need help to not only figure out how you can drive a car (if you've had some loss of function) but also may have lost the mindset to just get in and go.
Learning or re-learning as an adult is also more difficult as our brains become more fixed and picking up new skills can take longer. Patience and support are critical, along with slow introduction of the parts of the road network that perhaps now scares you.
Both DriveAbility Scotland and the SMART Centre conduct assessments for capability for individuals and will suggest what adaptations may be required.
